Raspberries are the one fruit I’ll happily eat straight from the punnet, so they were an obvious place to start when I wanted a juice that doesn’t undo the day. This one comes out a proper glassful of pink. Raspberries carry the flavour, cucumber keeps it light, a green apple brings the sweetness, and half a lime stops the whole thing tasting flat. It lands around a hundred calories a glass, which is why it sits in my weight-loss list instead of the treat list.
Why these ingredients work
Raspberries are one of the lowest-sugar berries you can buy, and they bring vitamin C and a decent load of antioxidants with them. Cucumber is mostly water, so it fills the glass up for almost no calories. The green apple adds natural sweetness without any added sugar, and the lime keeps the flavour sharp enough that you don’t miss the sweet stuff. Juicing removes most of the fibre, so this is a light, hydrating option rather than something that’ll keep you full for hours.
FAQ
Can I use frozen raspberries?
Yes, and I usually do. Frozen raspberries are picked at their ripest and cost less, and they keep the juice properly cold while you make it. If your juicer struggles with anything hard, just let them sit out for five minutes first.
How many calories are in a glass?
Around 100 per glass, based on the recipe making two. Most of that comes from the natural sugars in the apple and raspberries, and there’s nothing added on top.
Does juicing remove the fibre?
It does. Juicing squeezes out the water, sugars and nutrients but leaves most of the fibre behind, which is why I call this a light option rather than a meal. If you’d rather keep the fibre, blend it and skip the straining step.
