Peach Raspberry Orange Juice Recipe

I make this when the mid-afternoon slump hits and I can’t face another coffee. It’s a sweet one, peach and raspberry with orange to balance the sharpness, and it’s ready in about ten minutes. Two glasses’ worth, around 145 calories each.

Why these ingredients work

Peaches are the main event, soft and naturally sweet, with a decent amount of potassium for a medium peach. Potassium helps your muscles and nerves do their job, which is part of why this feels like a steady lift rather than a crash. Raspberries bring the sharp edge and most of the fibre, plus a proper hit of vitamin C, around 60mg a glass between the three fruits. The orange cuts through the sweetness and adds its own vitamin C on top. It’s fruit sugar rather than anything added, so it’s not a free pass, but it’s a steadier pick-me-up than a chocolate bar.

FAQ

Can I make this with frozen fruit?

Yes. Frozen raspberries work well, just let them thaw for ten minutes first so they juice properly, and frozen peach slices are fine too. The drink comes out a touch colder, which I quite like on a warm day.

Is peach juice good for energy?

The lift here comes from natural fruit sugars and potassium rather than anything added. Each glass is around 24g of sugar and 145 calories, so it picks you up quickly but it’s still a treat. If you want a lower sugar version, swap the orange for half a lime.

When should I drink it?

I have it mid-morning or mid-afternoon, before I’d normally reach for the kettle. It’s best fresh, straight over ice. Bottled, it keeps in the fridge for up to 24 hours, but give it a shake before you pour because it separates.

Equipment

Ingredients

Juice

  • 2 medium peaches, halved and stoned
  • 150 g fresh raspberries frozen works out of season
  • 1 large orange, peeled and quartered

Instructions

Juicer method

  • Wash the peaches and raspberries. Peel the orange and cut the peaches into wedges that fit your juicer chute.
  • Feed the orange through first, then the peaches and finally the raspberries, alternating soft and firm pieces so everything pushes through cleanly.
  • Stir the juice well, pour over ice and serve, or bottle and keep in the fridge for up to 24 hours.

Blender method

  • Roughly chop the peaches, stones removed, and the orange. Tip them into a high-speed blender with the raspberries and 100ml of cold water.
  • Blend on high until completely smooth, about a minute.
  • Strain through a nut milk bag or fine sieve into a jug, pressing down to get every last drop.
  • Pour over ice and drink straight away, it separates quickly.

Notes

Peaches and raspberries are at their best in late summer in the UK. Frozen raspberries work fine out of season, just let them thaw slightly before juicing. This is a sweet juice at around 24g of sugar a glass, so treat it as a treat rather than an everyday drink. Nutrition is an estimate per glass.
